Hair transplanting at Kaloni

The procedure and its results

In countless cases of alopecia or hair loss it’s indispensable to have recourse to hair transplanting since it’s one of the most effective alternatives for restoring hair. Now in the twenty-first century hair transplanting is a method that manages to achieve fully natural results, thanks to an innovative technique to move your hair to the affected areas in a comfortable and effective way. The procedure is based on implanting hair follicles one by one, and it allows the hair to grow as naturally as it did before it fell out.

Hair transplanting is in essence a minimally invasive technique. It’s carried out with local anesthesia, it doesn’t require a hospital stay, and it allows the patient to resume his everyday life the moment the procedure is over. After the micro graft, the patient’s looks change gradually and the final results show in twelve months.

Why choose to have a hair transplant?

A hair transplant consists of extracting hair follicles that are genetically resistant to hair loss from the back of the head and of implanting them in the receiver areas like the forehead and crown. These then grow as all hair does and so produce a natural look.

The implanted hair follicle’s adaptation period lasts from two to five months. Then the hair begins its natural growth while preserving the intrinsic resistance proper to the extraction area, that is, it resists Androgenic alopecia and the immutable process of hair loss.

When to have recourse to a hair transplant?

A hair micro graft is without a doubt the ideal option to recover hair lost due to the relentless ravages of Androgenic alopecia, the most common kind of hair loss among men. The technique allows one to recover lost hair and to thicken it in areas where it’s begun to grow thin.

Let’s remember that in some cases it’s advisable to have a reconstructive hair transplant when the hair loss was provoked by burns, a previous surgery or an accident. In our Kaloni clinics each hair transplant is designed with the objective of obtaining a natural, long-lasting result both in medical cases and in aesthetic ones.

Hair transplants, step by step

A hair transplant is a technically labor-intensive procedure. At Kaloni we carry it out with the active cooperation of several professionals who work simultaneously: one or two doctors, three to five technicians, a nurse and an assistant́. To reach our patients ́ levels of demand and to perform the transplant within the time frame the hair follicles require for their survival, we divide the procedure into four important steps which entail a highly coordinated effort.

1. Preparations for the transplant

When the patient arrives at the clinic he receives a comfortable garment suitable for the operating room. Before the procedure the doctor in charge carries out the hair design in the donor and receiver areas and explains the treatment steps in detail. He then prepares the donor area for the hair follicle extraction.

2. Hair follicle extraction from the donor area

This step is carried out under local anesthesia. When the donor area is already under its effects, the hair follicle extraction proceeds using the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique.

3. Preparation of the hair-producing follicles

After the extraction the follicles are placed in plasma rich in platelets (PRP) to keep them nourished. Then a part of the team prepares the follicles with the help of the most advanced microscope technology. The maintenance and adequate preparation of the follicles is essential for the hair transplant’s success.

4. The implanting of the follicles

The area where the chosen follicles are implanted is anesthetized. Using specialized micro instruments, millimetric incisions are made following the patient’s natural hair growth pattern and then the extracted follicles are inserted into them one by one. The implanted follicles will have a long life and are resistant to the hormonal effect which provokes hair to fall out.
